In early 2001, one of our Working Groups considered the ethical, legal, and practical issues
related to acquisition of MARC records through Z39.50 technology. The exploration identified
many questions and draft preliminary recommendations were developed.
The Group recommended that the topic be revisited after more time and experience have provided
greater clarity for the issues involved.
