OCLC works with WorldCat Link Manager, EBSCO LinkSource, Serials Solutions 360 Link and the TDNet e-Resource Manager to automate the process of setting and maintaining library holdings for ISSN-based electronic serials in WorldCat.

Highlights

  • Costs are included in your OCLC Cataloging Subscription, so there is no additional charge for this service for Governing OCLC Members.
  • Makes your electronic serials collection more visible in WorldCat, and increases its usage since the service makes it easier for users and staff to find and use the full-text electronic serials already in your collection.
  • Keeps your electronic serials holdings up to date in WorldCat.
  • Increases the value of your library's investments in your electronic serials collection, serials management services (including A to Z lists and Open URL resolvers) and WorldCat.
  • Builds on systems that you and your users already use like Connexion, OCLC FirstSearch, WorldCat Resource Sharing, WorldCat Collection Analysis and other WorldCat-related programs.
  • Allows you to automatically control and/or deflect interlibrary loan requests from other institutions.

For more product information, visit OCLC's eSerials Holdings webpage. There you can sign up to attend a live information session, browse frequently asked questions, and print off a checklist to help you through the process of starting the service.

How It Works

When you subscribe to the eSerials Holdings service, OCLC contacts your serials management provider to begin receiving your holdings data for ISSN-based resources. Once the process begins, OCLC automatically sets and maintains journal title level holdings against existing electronic serials MARC records in WorldCat for your collection each month. The current serials management providers are EBSCO, Serials Solutions and TDNet.

Ordering

If you are an OCLC full cataloging member, the service is included in your OCLC Cataloging Subscription. You can sign up for the eSerials holdings service via OCLC's Online Service Center. If you need help with your order, contact Minitex.
