Handling Corrupt Ariel Files (for Ariel 3.4)

Corrupt Ariel files need to be checked weekly. Before starting, send all files which haven't gone through to their destination to another Ariel scanning computer. Turn off Sending and Receiving options in Ariel once files have been sent and follow the steps listed below:

  • Go to My computer, find Ariel in your C drive
  • Check the In folder – you should only see files in Received.Q
  • Check the Out folder – you should only see files in Send.Q
  • If there are other files there, they must be transferred to another folder – i.e.: create a new folder in the Ariel program – Corrupted Send and Corrupted Received
  • Send all files except Received.Qor Send.Q to the appropriate folder
  • Once all files are sent to the other folder, return to the In or Out folder and delete Received.Q or Send.Q
  • Go to Help and click on Rebuild Send queue and Rebuild Received queue A window will pop up about checking with Administrator... and click on OK
  • While in Ariel, select Document
  • select Archive
  • Go back to Document
  • Select Import Program Files – Ariel
  • Look for and look for the folders you created – Corrupted Send and Corrupted Received
  • At Files of Type, choose *.* The corrupted files should appear.
  • Click on first document, then click on Open. A copy of the file should appear in the Archive
  • Click on file in Archive, go to Document, click on View
  • Write down 3 letter code, request # and IP address, then close
  • Go back to Document, click on Info edit and enter missing information
  • click on OK
  • If you are working with the Received Items, send those to another Ariel scanning computer
  • File should transfer to Send
  • Click on the file in Archive go to Document click on Delete and OK
  • Go back to Import – Ariel and the folder you were in, choose *.* click on the first file and delete.
  • Repeat process until all files are sent/deleted
  • Once all files have been transferred to Send, turn on Sending and Receiving
