About the MINITEX/MnLINK Interlibrary Loan Committee
Overview
In support of the vision statement adopted by the Library Planning Task Force*, we will work towards
facilitating improved resource sharing throughout Minnesota by addressing the following objectives:

Examine the existing interlibrary loan environment by reviewing current policies and procedures.
- Explore the capabilities of the selected gateway resource-sharing software.
- Communicate and coordinate with other groups involved in interlibrary loan.
- Develop recommendations and expectations regarding operational procedures and policies.
- Consider the delivery implications as we develop recommendations for new types of services.
- Alert the appropriate bodies of issues that are outside this group's responsibility.
Purpose
1.
Issue new reports and review/update past reports as well as other products of the committee.
2.
Advise and make recommendations on the separate use, configuration and interconnections of resource
sharing software used within MINITEX/MnLINK.
3.
Facilitate communication of best practices in resource sharing to Minnesota libraries.
4.
Explore, discuss and make recommendations on the resource sharing policies of libraries in Minnesota.
5.
Explore the needs and new options available for delivery of materials in a changing environment.
6.
Determine what issues are outside the purview of the Committee and are to be addressed by other groups.
Membership
A MINITEX/MnLINK Interlibrary Loan Committee composed of members drawn from interlibrary loan staff and
from public service personnel including those with ILL experience from Gateway Server Site Libraries and
MINITEX. Libraries of all types are represented on the group.
Procedures
Reports and recommendations of the MINITEX/MnLINK Interlibrary Loan Committee will be presented to the
MINITEX Director. It is expected that this group will coordinate its activities with already existing
groups, such as:
- MINITEX in the area of interlibrary loan and document delivery.

MnLINK Gateway Libraries including academic libraries, Regional Public Library Systems, Metro area
public libraries, MnPALS libraries, the Multitype-Multicounty Library Systems in areas related to
local delivery and protocols.
The MINITEX/MnLINK Interlibrary Loan Committee is advisory to the MINITEX Office and the MnLINK Gateway
Operations Group and/or the MINITEX Policy Advisory Committee.
The MINITEX/MnLINK Interlibrary Loan Committee may organize itself. This includes frequency and location
of meetings. Minutes of the group meetings will be widely shared and posted to the MINITEX Web site.
