Glossary of ILL & Library Terminology
We recognize the need for a quickly available list of terms, acronyms and initialisms
encountered in the fast-changing world of interlibrary loan. It includes definitions from
Aleph to LVIS and on to ZPORTAL.
Our glossary was created by the Committee members and tailored to the needs of Minnesota
libraries. It is based, in part, on a glossary created by Mary Jackson of the Association of
Research Libraries.
Our glossary can be searched by keyword or browsed alphabetically. Whenever possible, we have
included links to relevant Web sites in the entries to make further exploration easy. We also
offer an online feedback form for comments on the definitions and for suggestions about
additional terms to be included.
