Mark Ehlert

Mark Ehlert Mark Ehlert began his association with Minitex Contract Cataloging in September 2007. Prior to his present service as ConCats cataloger, he worked in a paraprofessional capacity at the University of Minnesota's Wilson Library (2004-2007) cataloging special collections materials and gift books. Earlier, he spent ten years (1994-2004) as part of the staff of Alcuin Library, which is located on the campus of St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota. There he was chiefly responsible for cataloging books, music sound recordings, and scores as well as managing the quality control unit.

In May 2007 Mark received his master's degree in Library and Information Science from Dominican University through the MLIS program offered by St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Renae Johnson

Renae Johnson Renae Johnson started at Minitex as a student working on the Elmer Andersen collection. Renae received her B.A. in history from the University of Minnesota, Morris. While attending college in Morris, she gained most of her library work experience working at Briggs Library on campus. She is currently working with Contract Cataloging on the Minneapolis Institute of Arts inventory project.

Renae recently got married and lives in Eagan. She has hopes of attending school to receive her Masters' Degree in Library and Information Sciences in a few years.

Diane Power

Diane Power Diane Power is a freelance cataloger who works on an as needed basis at Hamline University and the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library as well as Minitex Contract Cataloging. Diane is a MOTSE trainer for the Description and Subject Analysis workshops and has taught Library of Congress Classification and Subject Headings for the MLIS program at St. Catherine University.

For many years she cataloged state documents at the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library. Diane began her career at St. Paul Public Library, where she was both a cataloger and a public services librarian.

She has a M.A. in Library Science and B.A. in Mathematics from University of Minnesota.

Edward Swanson

Edward Swanson Edward Swanson has been manager of the Contract Cataloging Program since 2001. Before joining the ConCats he worked for 31 years at the Minnesota Historical Society, the last 15 as Principal Cataloger. He has been involved in developing and teaching about cataloging rules and policies on local, state, national, and international levels. He is active in state, national, and international library associations.

Most recently he completed two two-year terms as a member of the IFLA Professional Committee and of the IFLA Governing Board. He served as the technical editor of the 1993 Amendments to AACR 2 and as editor of the International Standard Bibliographic Description for Serials and Other Continuing Resources.

Sue Zuriff

Sue Zuriff Sue Zuriff, a long-time cataloger, recently retired from the University of Minnesota Libraries. She started her career with MULS and went on to become, successively, serials cataloger, head of serials cataloging, serials cataloging coordinator and Area Studies team leader in the University Library's Technical Services Department. She especially enjoys the variety of special projects in ConCats--and working part-time.

She has a B.A. from Carleton College and an M.A. in Library Science from the University of Minnesota.

Conway and Constance

Conway and Constance Conway joined the staff in August, 2000 as official mascot, and Constance joined about a year later. You may catch a glimpse of them hanging out at the Minitex booth at the state conferences in the region.

They both convey our dedication and perseverance, plus a hearty dose of humor. They are also responsible for writing occasional articles about the Program for the Minitex/OCLC Mailing.
