Prior to his present service as ConCats cataloger, he worked in a paraprofessional capacity at the
University of Minnesota's Wilson Library (2004-2007) cataloging special collections materials and gift
books. Earlier, he spent ten years (1994-2004) as part of the staff of Alcuin Library, which is located
on the campus of St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota. There he was chiefly responsible for
cataloging books, music sound recordings, and scores as well as managing the quality control unit.
In May 2007 Mark received his master's degree in Library and Information Science from Dominican University
through the MLIS program offered by the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Renae Johnson

received her B.A. in history from the University of Minnesota, Morris. While attending
college in Morris, she gained most of her library work experience working at Briggs Library
on campus. She is currently working with Contract Cataloging on the Minneapolis Institute of Arts
inventory project.
Renae recently got married and lives in Eagan. She has hopes of attending school to receive
her Masters' Degree in Library and Information Sciences in a few years.

Susanne Nevin joined ConCats in August of 2005. She took an "early retirement" from St. Olaf
College where she had been the Northern European Languages/Special Collections Cataloger for
eleven years.
Prior to that she was Head of Technical Services at Gustavus Adolphus College (1988-1994);
cataloger at the U of M Law Library (1982-1988); and paraprofessional serials cataloger at the
U of M Wilson Library (1970-1982). After all these years she still loves the detective and
intellectual aspects of her work.
Susanne lives with her (now retired) husband in St. Anthony Park, from where she is once again
able to take the free intercampus bus and save a lot of gas money!
Diane Power
Diane Power is a freelance cataloger who works on an as needed basis at Hamline University and the
Minnesota Legislative Reference Library as well as MINITEX Contract Cataloging. Diane is a MOTSE trainer
for the Description and Subject Analysis workshops and has taught Library of Congress Classification and
Subject Headings for the MLIS program at the College of St. Catherine.
For many years she cataloged state documents at the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library. Diane began
her career at St. Paul Public Library, where she was both a cataloger and a public services librarian.
She has a M.A. in Library Science and B.A. in Mathematics from University of Minnesota.

He has been involved in developing and teaching about cataloging rules and policies on local, state,
national, and international levels. He is active in state, national, and international library associations.
Most recently he completed two two-year terms as a member of the IFLA Professional Committee and of the

the University Library's Technical Services Department. She especially enjoys the variety of
special projects in ConCats--and working part-time.
She has a B.A. from Carleton College and an M.A. in Library Science from the University of Minnesota.
Conway and Constance
Conway joined the staff in August, 2000 as official mascot, and Constance joined about a year later.
You may catch a glimpse of them hanging out at the MINITEX booth at the state conferences in the region.
They both convey our dedication and perseverance, plus a hearty dose of humor. They are also
responsible for writing occasional articles about the Program for the MINITEX/OCLC Mailing.
