Copyright Clearance Center

Product Highlights

The Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) was established at the suggestion of Congress and represents authors, publishers and other rightsholders as the not-for-profit reproductive rights organization for the United States. CCC operates collective licensing systems that facilitate compliance with the copyright law. The CCC facilitates permissions to photocopy and republish from thousands of book and journals.

By registering for an account, your library will have access to four services. The services are set up according to different types of use made of copyrighted material.

Transactional Reporting Service (TRS)

Use CCC's Transactional Reporting Service (TRS) to get instant permission to photocopy copyrighted materials.

Republication Licensing Service

Use CCC's Republication Licensing Service (RLS) to get permission to reproduce copyrighted works in your own materials—from books and journals to email and Web sites.

Electronic Course Content Service

Use CCC's Electronic Course Content Service (ECCS) to get permission to use copyrighted materials in electronic coursepacks, electronic reserves and distance learning.

Academic Permissions Service

Use CCC's Academic Permissions Service (APS) to zip through photocopy permissions for coursepacks and class handouts.

How to Register

  • Go to the Copyright Clearance Center Web site
  • Click Login (top right corner of screen)
  • Click to Create a Pay-Per-Use Account in the name of your organization. You will then provide contact information and you will create your own User Name and Password. You will see space to provide an alternate billing address. Please note that you can add an alternate contact for billing at your location.
  • As soon as you submit your information you will receive a new Copyright Clearance Center account number. Please record this number in addition to your new User Name and Password. Next time you visit copyright.com, simply click Login and enter your new User Name and Password.
  • Email Kateri Noone of the CCC at knoone@copyright.com to let her know that you have created an account and that you are a Minitex library.

Minitex Pricing

Discounts are applied to online orders only. The only charges you will be responsible for are the royalty fees set by the rightsholder and a Copyright Clearance Center processing fee of $1.00 per granted request (a $2.00 savings off the standard CCC transaction price of $3.00).

Because copyright holders set their own royalty fees, costs vary.

Discounts are not available for the ECCS (Electronic Course Content Service) or the RLS (Republication Licensing Service).

Billing

The Copyright Clearance Center bills libraries directly.
