MEDD Requesting via Aleph
Aleph library requests will be automatically be updated to complete by the Aleph server.
Patrons can request MEDD delivery when they submit their request by clicking on the
"Prefers Electronic Delivery" option; the "Copy (electronic)" option is automatically
selected.
If the patron does not want to receive the item via the MEDD service, the "Photocopy
(copy) option must be chosen as the preferred media.
When an electronic delivery item is posted to the server, the patron receives email
message alerting them that the item is available.
Articles will remain on the server for five viewings or seven days after the notification
is sent, whichever comes first.
The Aleph system allows Minitex staff to complete/close the request, so there is no
need for library notification.
Undeliverable items may occur due to the following:
- Exceeds 50 page limit
- Poor copy quality
- Undeliverable to patron's email address
- Others
When this happens, we will attach a note to the item explaining why we were unable
to send via MEDD, and we will send via Ariel, or regular delivery.
