How long will it take to download my material?
This will vary depending on the type of connection to the Internet you are using and the
size of the file. Generally speaking, the faster types of connections are those using a
network (university or college offices, libraries, residence halls, computing centers, etc.),
broadband connection or DSL connection (digital subscription line). Downloading a file using
these connections takes a very short amount of time... perhaps only a matter of seconds.
Dial-up access using a modem is the slowest method; via modem connection it could take ten
minutes or longer to download a lengthy article.
What do I do if I have trouble accessing my document?
We have prepared a Troubleshooting Guide which should be of assistance if you have trouble
accessing your document.
Why do all of my documents have pages not related to the topic included in them?
Each article processed by Minitex or your Interlibrary Loan office is required by law to
include a statement outlining under what circumstances the information obtained may be copied
and/or distributed. Therefore, each document that is delivered to you electronically has this
copyright notice as well.
Do I need to be worried about copyright usage guidelines?
Copyright usage guidelines apply equally to printed and electronic versions of copyrighted
material. A statement outlining these guidelines is included as the first page for each document
delivered to your document delivery account. Use of this service implies your willingness to
follow these guidelines.
What do I do if there's something wrong with my document?
If your document appears to be missing pages, is illegible, or otherwise unusable, you can
do one of three things: contact your ILL office, reply to the MEDD email message you received,
or submit a MEDD Feedback form that is linked on the document retrieval page. We will replace
the document as quickly as we can.
Please note that in some cases it may not be possible to improve the clarity of the image due
to the age or condition of the original material. In that case, we may choose to send a paper copy.
Do my documents really get delivered to me faster?
Material should be in your hands much faster when it's delivered electronically. Handling
time is shortened at both the Minitex office and at your ILL office and your documents can
be retrieved 24/7. Even our fastest couriers can't compete against the speed that
electronic delivery offers.
