Using MEDD with Mozilla Firefox
When attempting to view a MEDD document, some Firefox users may receive an error
message stating that "The file is damaged and cannot be repaired." This may be solved
by disabling the browser's download caching feature. The procedure follows:
-
In the web browser's location bar, type "about:config" (excluding quotes) and
press <Enter>. This should show a list of the browser's internal configuration
settings.
-
Locate the field "network.http.use-cache." To find this setting more easily, you
may enter "http" into the Filter bar, reducing the number of visible settings.
-
If the value is set to "true", you should change it to "false". Double-click it.
In some browser versions, simply double-clicking it will set it to false. In others,
you may need to manually type "false" into a dialog box to change the value.
- Quit the web browser and restart it. Attempt to read the MEDD document again.
Notes
The network.http.use-cache setting, when set to "true", can help some downloads begin
more quickly. After obtaining your document, you may wish to reset the value to "true"
following the same procedure.
