MEDD Instructions & Information
This information applies to Interlibrary Loan staff only.
If your ILL department is interested in MEDD service, please contact:
We will give you more information regarding the service based upon how you request
materials through MINITEX.
General Information About the MEDD Service
With each filled request we will send an email message to the end user with a PIN
(Personal Identification Number) and instructions for retrieving the document from
the MINITEX server. Users should have Adobe Acrobat (4.0 version or newer) installed
on their machine. We recommend Internet Explorer as the Web browser for accessing
the requested documents.
In some cases, the library will also receive an email notification informing them
that the requested material was delivered to the patron. The library should treat
this item as a "filled" photocopy request.
Articles will remain on the server for five viewings or seven days after the notification
is sent, whichever comes first.
While MEDD may be the requested method of delivery, there are some items we will not
send via MEDD:
- Articles longer than 50 pages
- Replacement pages
- Poor copy quality
- Copy format
If an item is not sent via MEDD, we will include a memo that explains why we were
unable to do so.
If patrons experience problems with MEDD, they must contact their ILL office.
If you notify us of the problem we will send a paper copy of the item via the delivery
system or transmit via Ariel, if possible.
