MEDD Requesting via OCLC

What we need from the requesting library:

  • Library email address—to receive the "library email message" for each item posted to the MINTEX server and to treat each item as a filled photocopy and any messages regarding MEDD service from MINITEX.
  • Library email address should be checked for MEDD messages.
  • Libraries that are heavy users should consider a separate email account—main email account.
  • Light users can use a staff member's account.
  • We need to see "MEDD" and patron's email address in notes field/borrowing notes field.

Patron receives email message saying item available, and has hyperlink to MINITEX server.

Email includes patron's email address (as it appears on the request) and a PIN needed for accessing items on server.

Articles will remain on the server for five viewings or seven days after the notification is sent, whichever comes first.

  • As long as patron's email address does not change, the PIN will remain the same and is repeated with each notification sent to patron.
  • If the patron uses different email accounts for requesting via MEDD, they will have different PINs for each email address.

Patron must contact their ILL office if they have any problems.

ILL office can then contact us:

Undeliverable items may occur due to the following:

  • Exceeds 50 page limit
  • Poor copy quality
  • Undeliverable to patron's email address
  • Landscape orientation (two pages copied on one side)
  • Others

When this happens, we will attach a note explaining why, and will send via delivery or via Ariel if possible.
