Remote Access and Password Access

For the password to the Gale databases, please contact Rita Baladad (rita@minitex.umn.edu / 612-626-8252 / 800-462-5348) or Mary Parker (m-park1@umn.edu / 612-624-1024 / 800-462-5348). NetLibrary is available to all Minnesota residents through the MnLINK gateway. Access is IP authenticated within your library building. Remote access is available by entering a public library bar code. After patrons have established a personal NetLibrary account while at an IP-authenticated site, they can log in to their account from anywhere.

Libraries and media centers that have contributed to the NetLibrary Shared Collections may place a direct link to NetLibrary on their Web sites.

OCLC

You can either provide authorization and password access or IP authenticated access to WorldCat.

Authorization and Password Access

If you want to control access to WorldCat, you can provide authorization and password access to it, but that means you will have to share your authorization number and password with your patrons.

If you need your authorization number and password, please contact Rita Baladad (rita@minitex.umn.edu / 612-626-8252 / 800-462-5348) or Mary Parker (m-park1@umn.edu / 612-624-1024 / 800-462-5348).

IP-Authenticated Access

For assistance in getting your IP access set up, contact Rita Baladad (rita@minitex.umn.edu / 612-626-8252 / 800-462-5348) or Mary Parker (m-park1@umn.edu / 612-624-1024 / 800-462-5348).

Once your IPs have been set up, paste the following link to your Web page, linking your users directly to WorldCat:

If your library has multiple authorizations, and/or you require assistance in setting up links, please contact Rita Baladad (rita@minitex.umn.edu / 612-626-8252 / 800-462-5348) or Mary Parker (m-park1@umn.edu / 612-624-1024 / 800-462-5348).

Remote Access (access from home, office, etc.)

If your library has a proxy server or some other means for authenticating your users, then the links provided above in the "IP authentication" section will allow your users to access WorldCat from a remote location without entering authorization or password information.

If your library does not have a proxy server, you can share your library's authorization and password with your users. Please note that authorization and password information may not be posted on the Web. Please contact Rita Baladad (balad001@umn.edu / 612-626-8252 / 800-462-5348) or Mary Parker (m-park1@umn.edu / 612-624-1024 / 800-462-5348) for this information.
