The Electronic Library for Minnesota (ELM) Program is comprised of 46 databases from five vendors.

Britannica (3 databases)

Britannica Online Academic Edition

In addition to rich encyclopedia content, Encyclopaedia Britannica Online Academic Edition features news headlines, safe Web sites, engaging multimedia, and a customizable workspace.

Britannica Online Public Library Edition

Britannica Online Public Library Edition offers separate home pages for adults and children, providing age-appropriate encyclopedia content for everyone.

Britannica Online School Edition

Britannica Online School Edition gives teachers and students access to four encyclopedias that ensure consistency with classroom topics and age-appropriate language. Designed for all levels of learning, Britannica Online School Edition offers students a gateway to the resources of Encyclopaedia Britannica.

EBSCO (15 databases)

Academic Search Premier

Academic Search Premier contains indexing for over 8,300 publications, with full text for more than 4,500 of those titles. PDF backfiles to 1975 or further are available for well over 100 journals, and searchable references are provided for more than 1,000 titles. Academic Search Premier contains full text coverage in biology, chemistry, education, engineering, humanities, physics, psychology, religion and theology, sociology, and more.

Alt Health Watch

This database focuses on the many perspectives of complementary, holistic, and integrated approaches to health care and wellness. It offers full-text articles for more than 180 international, and often peer-reviewed, journals and reports. In addition, there are hundreds of pamphlets, booklets, special reports, original research, and book excerpts.

Business Source Premier

Business Source Premier offers indexing and abstracts for 3,300 business-focused journals and magazines, 2,300 of which are available in full text. In addition to these journals, Business Source Premier contains market research reports, industry reports, country reports, company profiles, and SWOT analyses.

Consumer Health Complete

Consumer Health Complete is designed to support the information needs of patients, and to foster an overall understanding of health-related topics. The database provides consumer-oriented content covering all areas of health and wellness from mainstream medicine to the many perspectives of complementary, holistic, and integrated medicine.

ERIC

ERIC®, the Education Resource Information Center, provides access to education literature and resources. ERIC contains more than 1,282,000 records and links to more than 314,000 full-text documents.

Health Source: Consumer Edition

Health Source®: Consumer Edition is a collection of consumer health information. This resource provides access to nearly 80 full-text, consumer health magazines; full text for current, health-related pamphlets; and more than 130 health reference books. Additionally, the database contains more than 5,100 Clinical Reference Systems reports (in English and Spanish); Lexi-PAL Drug Guide, which covers 1,300 generic drug patient education sheets with more than 4,700 brand names; and Merriam-Webster's Medical Desk Dictionary.

Health Source: Nursing / Academic Edition

This resource provides nearly 550 scholarly full-text journals focusing on many medical disciplines, including strong coverage of nursing and allied health. In addition, this database includes the Lexi-PAL Drug Guide which covers 1,300 generic drug patient education sheets with more than 4,700 brand names.

Kids Search

Helps elementary and middle school students find magazine and reference content from the Primary Search, Middle Search Plus, and Science Reference Center databases. In addition to periodicals covering numerous topics, these databases contain the full text of the American Heritage Children's Dictionary, Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia, and the EBSCO Encyclopedia of Animals. Intended for grades 2-8.

MAS Ultra—School Edition

This database, designed specifically for high school students, contains full text for more than 500 popular, high school magazines; 85,670 biographies; 105,786 primary source documents; 440,000 photos, maps, and flags; and 360 reference books. All full-text articles are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles).

MasterFILE Premier

Designed for public libraries and K-12 schools, MasterFILE Premier contains full text for 1,700 periodicals covering general reference, business, health, education, general science, multicultural issues, and much more. This database also contains full text for nearly 500 reference books, over 160,000 primary source documents, and an image collection of photos, maps, and flags.

MegaFILE

Search all four EBSCO databases at once. The EBSCO MegaFILE is comprised of the complete content and functionality of Academic Search Premier, MasterFILE Premier, Business Source Premier, and Regional Business News.

Middle Search Plus

Middle Search® Plus contains full text for more than 140 popular, middle school magazines. Full text is also available for thousands of biographies and historical essays, primary source documents, and reference books. An image collection of over 400,000 photos, maps, and flags is also included.

Points of View Reference Center

Points of View Reference Center™ is a full-text database designed to provide students with a series of essays that present multiple sides of a current issue. The database profiles 255 topics, each with an overview, point, counterpoint, and Critical Thinking Guide. Topics are supported by the main essays, articles from leading political magazines, newspapers, radio and TV news transcripts, primary source documents, and reference books.

Primary Search

Primary Search® contains full text for more than 70 popular, elementary school magazines, as well as encyclopedias and dictionaries written for kids, plus an image collection of photos, maps, and flags. All articles are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles).

Regional Business News

A supplemental database to Business Source Premier, Regional Business News provides comprehensive full text for regional business publications (including titles from Crain Communications). Regional Business News has full text for more than 80 sources.

Science Reference Center

Science Reference Center™ contains full text for hundreds of science encyclopedias, reference books, periodicals, and other sources covering the areas of biology, chemistry, environmental and life sciences, and more. Each article is correlated to state and national curriculum standards.

Searchasaurus

Helps students in grades K-3 to browse and search for content from the Primary Search database, which includes the full-text of the American Heritage Children's Dictionary, Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia, the EBSCO Encyclopedia of Animals, and dozens of kid-friendly magazines.

Student Research Center

Helps middle and high school students find magazine and journal articles, reference materials, and multimedia files covering all topics. Contains the following databases: Health Source-Consumer Edition; MAS Ultra-School Edition; Middle Search Plus; and Science Reference Center. Intended for grades 6-12.

Gale (11 databases)

Discovering Collection

The Discovering Collection is designed with the student in mind. It is comprised of more than 28,000 biographies, 18,000 overview essays, and more than 13,500 critical essays in core curriculum subjects. All of the information is pulled directly from Gale reference materials and explores literature, history, biography, science, and social studies with comprehensive content easily accessible by even the most novice researchers.

Educator's Reference Complete

This collection of more than 1,100 periodicals and 200 reports covers multiple aspects of education from preschool to college, and every educational specialty—such as technology, bilingual education, health education, and testing. Educator's Reference Complete also focuses on issues in administration, funding, and policy.

Expanded Academic ASAP

Expanded Academic ASAP® is comprised of more than 3,500 indexed and full-text titles—of which 2,100 are peer-reviewed—in all disciplines including social sciences, humanities, education, science, and technology. More than 20 years of backfile coverage and an intuitive interface expedite successful searches.

General Science Collection

General Science Collection contains over 200 journals covering the latest scientific developments in particle physics, advanced mathematics, nanotechnology, geology, and hundreds of other areas.

¡Informe!

¡Informe! is a database reference tool providing indexing, images and full text of popular Hispanic magazines—not just translations. Also included is a thesaurus and interface that are uniquely designed for Spanish-speaking users.

InfoTrac Junior Edition

InfoTrac Junior Edition is designed especially for junior high and middle schools and features titles most critical to their libraries and curriculum including age-appropriate content from magazines, newspapers, and reference books. It contains over 300 full‐text general interest and curriculum‐related magazines, thousands of full‐text newspaper articles from USA Today, Knight‐Ridder/Tribune News Service, and United Press International; reference books; and broadcast transcripts.

InfoTrac Student Edition

InfoTrac Student Edition is specifically designed for secondary school students, providing instant access to screened, age-appropriate content from magazines, newspapers, and reference books. It includes over 1,000 full‐text curriculum‐related and general interest magazines, 17 full‐text ready reference books, historical images and 300+ full‐color Rand McNally maps, and broadcast transcripts. InfoTrac Student Edition covers a wide range of subjects, from science, history, and literature to political science, sports, and environmental studies, offering reliable, authoritative content for classroom assignments and general reference research.

Junior Reference Collection

With more than 17,000 biographies, topic overviews, plot summaries, and primary sources, the Junior Reference Collection is a one-stop database for in-depth coverage of middle grades curriculum subjects. It covers the most-studied subjects: science, literature, arts, biographies, and general reference among others and adheres to national standards while providing access from the classroom, library media center, or home.

Kids InfoBits

Kids InfoBits is designed especially for students in kindergarten through grade five. Complete with an engaging, developmentally appropriate graphic interface, premier reference content, and the best magazines for elementary students, Kids InfoBits addresses the way kids learn and conduct research—and makes it fun! Content includes reference, magazines, newspapers, maps, flags and seals, charts and graphs, and images.

Student Resource Center Gold

Student Resource Center Gold is designed for use by high school students for both homework and in-depth research assignments. It contains a searchable database of reference works, biographies, essays, overviews, primary works, images, and periodical articles from literary, science, health, history, and biography resources.

OCLC (16 databases)

ArchiveGrid

ArchiveGrid provides access to detailed archival collection descriptions. It includes nearly a million descriptions of archival collections held by thousands of libraries, museums, historical societies, and archives worldwide.

CAMIO

OCLC's Catalog of Art Museum Images Online is a collection documenting works of art from around the world, representing the collections of prominent museums. CAMIO highlights the creative output of cultures around the world, from prehistoric to contemporary times, and covering the complete range of expressive forms.

CLASE / PERIÓDICA

CLASE indexes documents published in Latin American journals specializing in the social sciences and humanities. PERIÓDICA covers journals specializing in science and technology. Together, these databases contain 2,600 scholarly journals published in the Spanish, Portuguese, French, and English languages.

GPO Monthly Catalog

The GPO Monthly Catalog covers all types of U.S. government documents, including Congressional reports, hearings, debates, and records; judiciary materials; and documents issued by executive departments.

MEDLINE

MEDLINE is an index of thousands of records covering all areas of medicine, including dentistry and nursing.

NetLibrary Collections

Full text of over 14,000 electronic books in the arts, humanities, social sciences, life and physical sciences, business, computers, and more. Includes Cliff's Notes and Nolo books.

OAIster

OAIster is a union catalog of digital resources, including descriptive information about each resource.

OCLC ArticleFirst

The ArticleFirst® database describes items listed on the table of contents pages of individual issues of over 12,000 journals. Each record describes one article, news story, letter, or other item from a journal.

OCLC Electronic Books

Includes an index of records for more than 665,000 eBooks that have been cataloged by OCLC member libraries, including titles available from NetLibrary and other providers.

OCLC Electronic Collections Online A&I

OCLC's Electronic Collections Online provides bibliographic information for more than 5,000 electronic journals from over 70 publishers in a wide range of subject areas. The database enables librarians to assemble, manage, and archive large collections of academic and professional journals on the Web.

OCLC PapersFirst

OCLC PapersFirst is an index of papers presented at conferences worldwide. It covers every published congress, symposium, conference, exposition, workshop, and meeting received by The British Library Document Supply Centre.

OCLC ProceedingsFirst

OCLC ProceedingsFirst is an index of worldwide conference proceedings. It covers every published congress, symposium, conference, exposition, workshop, and meeting received by The British Library Document Supply Centre, and contains in each record a list of the papers presented at each conference.

OCLC WorldCat Dissertations and Theses

This database provides access to records of the dissertations and theses available in OCLC member libraries.

World Almanac / Book of Facts

Funk & Wagnalls New Encyclopedia and four almanacs offer a fundamental reference source for students, library patrons, library reference staff, and scholars alike. Includes biographies, encyclopedia entries, facts, and statistics.

WorldCat

WorldCat is the world's most comprehensive bibliography, with tens of millions of bibliographic records that represent 400 languages. WorldCat covers information back to 2100 B.C.E. and includes holdings information from libraries across the world. WorldCat now includes the Library of Congress Subject Headings as its thesaurus. It includes records for musical scores, books, serial publications, computer files, Internet resources, sound recordings, archival materials, maps, and visual materials.

ProQuest (2 databases)

ProQuest Newsstand Complete

ProQuest Newsstand Complete is an accessible and thorough Web-based database with citations and abstracts from over 350 newspapers, over 250 of which provide full text, enabling users to search the latest news from around the world.

Coverage, updated daily, of local, state, regional, national, and international newspapers is available, including full-text access to 27 major newspapers: the Star Tribune, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Barron's, and USA Today, to name just a few. The St. Cloud Times and the Sioux Falls Argus Leader are new to this database for Minnesota residents.

Access a wide range of articles, not only top news stories, but arts, sports, and entertainment stories as well.

The Historical Minneapolis Tribune

This database contains full text and article images from the Minneapolis Tribune (1867-1908) and the Minneapolis Morning Tribune (1909-1922). Browse these publications by date or keyword search across them for insight into life in Minnesota and the U.S. during this dynamic period in history.
