Requests for Other Minnesota Libraries

MLAC can process 30,000 volumes a month

  • Complete MLAC holdings are included in MnCAT, the University of Minnesota's online catalog and the MnLINK Gateway, the statewide virtual library.
  • Items in MLAC are available for use by any Minnesota resident with a valid library card.
  • To request an item from MLAC:
  • If you are student, faculty, or staff member on the Twin Cities campus, click on the "Get It" link.
  • Otherwise click on the "non-U of M Twin Cities requests" link.
  • Items can be requested through the Minitex Document Delivery Service for delivery to your local library. Contact your library for more information and to place requests. Minitex also provides Electronic Document Delivery (MEDD) of articles and non-circulating items as allowed by copyright law.
  • Items designated as "Non-Circulating" can only be used at MLAC's reading room in the Elmer L. Andersen Library on the West Bank of the University of Minnesota's Twin Cities Campus. Hours are 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Notice to all users:

On-demand paging is not available at MLAC at this time.

Because of the unique, high-density storage conditions at MLAC, walk-in or on-demand service is not available.

Returning items to MLAC & renewals

You can return or renew MLAC items at the library where you make your interlibrary loan transaction.

Fines

All fines and overdue notices will be handled by the host library that makes your interlibrary loan transaction. MLAC charges a minimum of $100 for any lost or non-returned items.
