I had the great good fortune to both attend and present at last week's 2016 Digital Library Federation Forum held in Milwaukee, WI. I was able to connect with like-minded professionals from across the country and attend sessions on a wide range of topics from digital scholarship and digital humanities to project management and practical digital workflows. As a presenter I shared the recent work on Minnesota Reflections Primary Source Sets.
Earlier this fall we announced a new additon to Minnesota Reflections, a series of oral history interviews from the Heritage Education Commission. An additional 60 interviews have been uploaded and added to this collection, bringing the total up to 90 interviews. The Heritage Education Commission is located in Moorhead and is an independent, non-profit commission developed for the purpose of creating, initiating and conducting programs and projects which aid in the preservation or restoration of the cultural heritage of the Upper Midwest region.
The Minnesota Digital Library is excited to announce a new addition to Minnesota Reflections. The newly digitized content from the Military Historical Society of Minnesota document Minnesota's involvement in World War I. The Historical Society digitized the final volumes from their collection of county narratives which told of Minnesota's contribution to the war effort. Each volume contains photographs of the men and women who fought and served during the war.
The Minnesota Digital Library is pleased to announce an exciting oral history addition to Minnesota Reflections. The Crow Wing County Historical Society has made available in Minnesota Reflections an extensive series of interviews conducted during 1936-1939 by the Works Progress Administration. These interviews are type-written pages and number more than 1,200. Together they are made up of more than 3,400 transcribed pages. The content of theses interviews reflect the lives, experiences, and genealogy of people who lived in Crow Wing County.
