Body
If you work with K-12 teachers or students, you know all about academic standards. And you probably are aware of our ELM for K-12 Academic Standards tool, which matches content from numerous ELM databases to those standards. Over the summer, we’ve updated that tool to incorporate feedback from usability testing and to include new content. The tool is now much more pleasing in appearance and easier to use. It requires fewer clicks to navigate. We think it’ll be a little more approachable for teachers. Take a look and let us know what you think (mtxref@umn.edu). Teachers use ELM for K-12 Academic Standards to find content to support their teaching of standards – to find material for lesson plans, to aid in classroom presentations and activities, and to find content to recommend to students for homework or research projects. The tool provides search term recommendations for the latest standards in English Language Arts (2010) and Science (2009). It includes the latest Social Studies standards, too, (2011) but only makes recommendations for databases since our vendors are still waiting for the “official” standards document before matching up recommended search terms.
