Quick Summary

Agnes Lee shares her thoughts on presenting an Ignite session.

Body

Have you ever attended or presented an Ignite session? At the MLA conference in Duluth this year, a group of Minitex staff presented, "Ignite your imagination:learn what's sparking at Minitex and in the Minnesota Library Community." The topics ranged from Ebooks Minnesota, Cycling through history with Minnesota Reflections, ELM A to Z and MNLINK, to name a few.

Ignite is a fast-paced presentation where each presenter has 20 slides. The slides advance automatically every 15 seconds. The result is a fun presentation which lasts only five minutes per presenter.  I have been on both sides of the coin. As a presenter, it can be nerve racking as the slides advance. If you are presenting an Ignite session, I advise you to practice, then practice some more, and choose your words wisely! I have also been in the audience for an Ignite session and find it exhilarating. I enjoyed getting so much information on a wide variety of topics.
