University of Minnesota Libraries bid fond farewell to Wendy Pradt Lougee

Wendy Pradt Lougee has retired from her post as the University of Minnesota's Dean of Libraries. She was celebrated by her staff at an event on February 24 and succeeded by Lisa German effective February 28.

Lisa German named University of Minnesota's Dean of Libraries

Lisa A. German will be the next University Librarian and Dean of Libraries, effective February 28, 2020. An accomplished research library leader who comes to Minnesota from the University of Houston, German will be the executive and strategic leader of the University of Minnesota Libraries.

Maggie Snow appointed to lead Minitex

I am pleased to share the news that Maggie Snow has accepted the position of Director of Minitex, beginning February 24, 2020. Maggie brings significant experience to the role, including appointments in the Missouri River Regional Library, Austin (Minnesota) Public Library, Carver County Library, and Minneapolis Public Library/Hennepin County Library. She currently serves as Director of the Anoka County Library, an eight-branch system serving 340,000 residents.

John Butler appointed Interim Director of Minitex

With the retirement of Valerie Horton, John Butler has been appointed Interim Director of Minitex effective July 9. John is currently Associate University Librarian for Data & Technology in the University of Minnesota Libraries and has longstanding knowledge and engagement with Minitex programs and services.

Lougee announces retirement plans

Wendy Pradt Lougee — University Librarian, Dean of Libraries, and McKnight Presidential Professor — has announced her plans to retire later this year, after a successor is appointed.
