from EBSCO:

After careful consideration and feedback, EBSCO has decided to postpone the release of the search mode label change of “Boolean/Phrase” to “Proximity” until June 19, 2024. This decision is made to ensure a smoother transition, especially during the ongoing school year in many regions, providing time for necessary updates.

Over the years, we have received inquiries and service issues about the “Boolean/Phrase” search mode. The label “Boolean/Phrase” caused some researchers to expect Boolean functionality automatically. This search mode has always performed a proximity search automatically unless an explicit Boolean operator is specified in the query.

EBSCO offers a variety of search modes including Boolean. In addition, customers will be able to rename the new “Proximity” label if they prefer.

We appreciate your feedback and understanding as we aim to provide the best experience. For any questions or concerns, please reach out to customer support.
