New contribution to Minnesota Reflections: Minnesota Streetcar Museum

The new contribution to the Minnesota Streetcar Museum collection includes over 800 photographs and postcards that document streetcar routes through the metro areas, the express boats on Lake Minnetonka, and streetcar employees hard at work in the many streetcar garages and carhouses throughout the cities. 

New contribution to Minnesota Reflections: Macalester College

This new contribution to Macalester College's collection in Minnesota Reflections helps to document the history of Macalester College and includes issues of the Macalester College's publication "College Contributions" as well as early student handbooks.

MDL at the 2019 Carleton Day of Digital Humanities

On Friday, June 7th, Carleton College held its fourth annual Day of Digital Humanities. The program for the day included a round of lightning presentations on recent digital humanities projects, then a "digital poster session" where presenters had the opportunity to answer questions about their work and connect with other attendees.

New contribution to Minnesota Reflections: Kanabec County Historical Society

The Minnesota Digital Library is pleased to announce an additional contribution to the Kanabec County Historical Society's collection in Minnesota Reflections. This new contribution of more than 30 photographs adds images of cities and towns in Kanabec County, including images of Main Street and bird's eye views. 

New Contributing Organization to Minnesota Reflections: Marshall County Historical Society

We are so excited to announce the addition of our 190th partner to Minnesota Reflections. The Marshall County Historical Society joins 189 other organizations working to tell the story of the people, places, and experiences of the state of Minnesota.

New contribution to Minnesota Reflections: Lake Superior Railroad Museum

Lake Superior Railroad Museum's new contribution increases their collection in Minnesota Reflections by more than 33%. Included in the project is a series of architectural drawings related to the construction of the Union Depot in Duluth. Today the train station is home to the Lake Superior Railroad Museum.  

Minitex introduction to digital preservation virtual course offered

While many of the traditional resources found in libraries, archives, museums, and other cultural heritage institutions--books, photographs, objects--can survive for years with no intervention, digital content is much more fragile. Managing it requires ongoing care and preservation activities to ensure continued access far into the future. This online training series--based on the Library of Congress Digital Preservation Outreach and Education (DPOE) Program curriculum--introduces fundamental concepts for managing your digital content over time through a series of six modules delivered in three sessions.

Recap: Minitex Upper Midwest Digital Collections Conference

Over 130 people attended the 2018 Upper Midwest Digital Collections Conference on November 8-9 at St. Catherine University. The conference included 3 pre-conference workshops, a keynote by Abigail Potter from the Library of Congress Digital Labs, and 18 breakout sessions. The majority of attendees were from academic libraries and archives, but also from historical society and museum communities.
