NDLA Annual Conference cataloging and linked data presentation slides available

It was a whirlwind trip to Dickinson, North Dakota this year to attend the North Dakota Library Association Annual Conference, September 22-23, 2016. We enjoyed seeing library staff at the Minitex booth and at the Minitex Cataloging & Metadata Update and Linked Data for the Uninitiated presentations. We hope to see you next year in Grand Forks! Slides for both presentations are included in the article.

RDA October 2016 update includes new project announcement

On October 18, the RDA Steering Committee (RSC) released the latest update to the text of RDA and the RDA Toolkit. As usual, the update reflects some Fast Track changes and updates to the various language translations of RDA. Highlights are included in the full article, along with information about a new project called the 3R Project: the RDA Toolkit Restructure and Redesign Project.

Recording available: Library of Congress BIBFRAME developments

The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) recently offered a free webinar outlining the Library of Congress' BIBFRAME-related initiatives. Several speakers discussed completed, ongoing, and upcoming projects, including LC's BIBFRAME Pilot Phases 1 and 2, implementation of BIBFRAME version 2.0 in various tools, and development of new BIBFRAME profiles. They also spoke of the relationship between RDA and BIBFRAME 2.0 as well as several Linked Data projects outside the Library of Congress.The recording and slides from this very informative webinar are now freely available on the ALCTS website.
